Remember this...

POST in August? Pretty ironic that I was already pregnant...but anyway, guess what I get to have.....
YEP! it's a BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!! a sweet little mister. Obviously we are thrilled! I know some of you think that nursery is kinda girly, but I love sweet little baby stuff. There will be no sports memorabilia in this nursery, or modes of transportation, or things that creep and crawl. Nope, just sweet little colors of whimsy. On the way home from the doctor Steve and I were talking, and thinking that Holland might be a tad disappointed since all she has been able to talk about is our "Bebe Gurl." So last night when I had her say our prayer I told her to say, "Thank you for our Baby Boy" well she repeated, "Tank you for Bebe Gurl" so I said it slower, "No, Thank you for our Baby Boooooy" so she said it slower, "Tank you for Bebe GuuuuuRL." She's a determined little one. I'm sure once she realizes that she won't have to hand over her pink patten leather shoes, she'll be glad she has a baby brother.

Catching up...

Holland was a purple Carebear this year for Halloween. She was so cute, I loved the costume because it looked so comfy. Besides that the hood kept falling over her eyes...

It took some work getting her into her costume this year, for some reason, once she saw me with my dazzling red lip stick, she wanted nothing to do with her cute cuddly costume. She was all about the make-up. So she started the night as grumpy bear.
While I've been sick Holland has taken full-advantage. She looooves my make-up...and I mean loves. This is not the first time she has been caught with mascara all over her body. But she was so proud that I thought I'd capture the moment for her.
This picture just cracks me up. I love the dry knees, the pouty face...and the wild hair. Try keeping a hair thing in this girls hair...I dare you.

Just loving her little Holland Lop with her friend Asher.
Holland loves all things girl. She also has an obsession with "big people" shoes. Any shoes that are not her size, she's in. It's pretty funny to watch her dance on our glass top table in high heels and just a diaper. (I have no idea where she gets it from)
So my costume this year needs an explanation. Steve and I had planned on attending 3 Halloween parties this year...and went to zero! I was so sad, but wanted to dress up anyway. I'm not really anything...but when i showed up to the Trunk-or-Treat Steve's mom told me I looked like a, "Street Walker." So here I am, Hooker Heather. I prefer someone else's interpretation, Gwen Stefani. (Can you see my baby belly????) How classy is that, a knocked-up Street Walker.

This picture was taken on my birthday! Steve really gives me the royal treatment on my birthday...not a day sooner or later...he reminds me that it's my birthDAY not birthWEEK or birthWEEKEND or birthMONTH. But I do get treated like a little Queen on MY day=) We kept up the tradition and had dinner at Sundance. I love Sundance.

Do you think???

Someone will be a good big sister?????????
So I've already told most everyone...but if you haven't seen me lately, and haven't talked to me lately, I am excited to announce...I'm PREGNANT! Our baby's due April 20th. So just a little spring chicken. We find out what we're having next week? I believe? Or the end of this week? Holland is convinced we are having a "Bebe Gurl." Her guess is as good as any I suppose.

A note to all those who tend to think...'I can do that'

do it you probably can. But as I'm realizing, there is a reason handcrafted, handmade, hands-on, one-of-a-kind items cost as much as they do. In the past week and maybe a half, I have painted one side table, one night stand, and one desk....and I'm not sure if my back will ever recover. So, I will be selling and posting photos of these items. I'm not sure what top dollar is, but that won't even be my consideration. They will be sold for what it's worth for me to let them go. And at least one visit to The College of Massage Therapy. Soooo, get ready, if you need a desk, I've got just the ONE and only for YOU.

Old Photos

Not many of you know this, but Steve and his Dad are quite the fishermen. They caught a couple huge fish at Thistle Creek.

There's Dave's Monster.
And there's Steve's. I wouldn't be surprised if that is record breaking.

All of these photos are from Dave's camera. One thing I love about Dave, is he isn't afraid to corner you and take an individual impromptu shot. There's Steve's beauty.

And here's mine. Dave said it'd be a good shot if I didn't have fungus growing on my nails.

Fell in love with this one when I saw it. These two are dreams.

I have a new nephew!!!!

It's true! He is here! Big and squishy and soft and cute. I checked my email this morning hoping Jason would have sent some photos out, but no such luck.
Holli had him yesterday afternoon...His name is Van Matthews Gutierrez. I hear he's just so sweet and cuddly. And he would be, arriving with a weight of 8 lbs. 11 oz. Can you believe it?! Refer to my California post and tell me it's possible that Holli had an almost 9 pounder in there?! Unbelievable I say. But I guess it was ALL baby. Literally.
Anyway, I can't wait to meet the new squish and hold him. He will probably be close to a toddlers size by the time I can make it out there again. Van, come to Utah. Please. And bring your mom, dad, and big brothers.
Holli told me that Ethan wanted to bring his pajamas and stay in the hospital with her. And that he was just beaming as he was looking at his little brother. He is such a sweet heart. And Koa, he kept looking and pointing at his new brother. Can't believe Koa is already a big brother. So excited for you all. Love you and am glad that everything went well!!!

EUREKA!

Invented for the way you clean.
My mom got me this green little gem over the weekend...and I think it, along with her, is heaven sent. This morning cleanup was a breeze. No hands and knees. No bending over a dustpan. Just pure ease.
Go to the store where they are rolling back the prices and get one for yourself. Thank you mamma! You sure know how to make a little old housewife smile.

I get a new nephew today!

They are on their way to get him. Can't wait!!!! Congratulation's Holli and Jason and Ethan and Koa. I can't wait for the new squish.

A little bit of this

And that.
And green.

With that.

And blue.

A little bit of country glamour.
A little bit of girlish glamour.

A little bit of Old Hollywood Glamour.

A little bit.

A little bit retro.

A little bit nautical.

A little bit royal.

A little bit of grandma.

A little bit circus.

Holland

This photo is from a few months ago (Annie's baby shower) and I can't believe how much older Holland looks now. I also love the uni-brow in the photo. Maybe it seems less noticeable in person=)

Baby hungry?

Whoever said that baby boy stuff is not as cute as baby girl stuff, has obviously never seen this nursery...
That nursery is almost enough to make me want to get pregnant again.

where my girls at

Just thought I'd throw this up for your viewing pleasure. My friend Lyssa was in town, and I love a lot of Lyssa time whenever I can get it. We sat in the car after dinner talking for so long...that I lost my voice the next day. Oh how I love to remember cruising around in Lyssa's little green Geo, but I also like to hear what life is like now. I also don't get to see Candice or Kelli as much as would be best. This is what that song was talking about when it said, make new friends but keep the old. They sure are gold. Oh and when you're looking at Cheesecake Factory's 1000 page menu...don't take a second look at the veggie chop salad. Well maybe it was just an off night for the veggies, but it was gross. I would have been better off nibbling on some nearby grass.
(Lyssa, Candice, Kelli, Moi, Holland)

a bit of whimsy

I have realized that I will never have a straight edge, straight line, super-tidy, looking home. My taste is just a little too Frida for that. I sometimes wish that I could stick to all things white and straight...and un-busy. After I saw this photo:
I knew that I'll never have a room that looks like any of these:

(Even though I love love the top left room)
or this one:

No, my living room will never look like this either:

My room will look something a little more like this:

I had to show it to you again.

Went Went back back to Cali Cali

We went to Gina's. Deliciouso.

Who doesn't love a solo swimsuit shot? I know I do. Thanks Holl. I would post everyone else's shots, but I don't know if I'm allowed.

Words can not express. We love these people. Holli is the best mom. I love how she will let Ethan wear tank tops with cars on them...a shirt I bought for him after he requested that I buy it for him via a top secret "secret". I love that she lets him wear tank tops with faux tattoos. What childhood is complete without tats and tanks?

Holli and Jason bought Holland this little Juicy Jumper. And we could just squeeze that little juicy girl, and we do.

Holland and I have matching bathingsuits. Cuuute.

ok, so I don't know why California decided to have the biggest heat wave to date, the two weeks I decided to go for a visit...but if you had to pull out the shades to deflect that serious glare coming off my forehead in the picture...I do apologize. I think I lost my entire water weight this trip. Really...I'll give you some figures. 118 degrees at Grandmas...and the beach wasn't much cooler. However, it made for the best beach day of the year! I was so lucky to be able to go out to California to take care and spend some time with my Grandma. And then I got to see Holli and her family for 4 days. While I was there I made it to her baby shower! It was so great to see all the people that love my sister and will be there to give her a helping hand with baby #3 while I'm across the seas. Well basically.

This trip was needed, and loved. I did miss Steve like I never have before. I thought I had outgrown that stage, but I'm happy that I haven't. Still missed him like we were lovestruck dating fools.

I'll put some photo's up if I can get the machine working. but in the words of Chucky...."IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII'MMMMMMMMMMMMMM BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCK!"

catch suppa sup

have you been wondering what we've been up to for the past few months? Didn't think so. But I wanted to throw some photo's up anyway. My computer has seen better days, and so it's nearly impossible to upload photos. I have to hold the uploading cord in a very specific spot...and my hand starts to shake from the effort. In the words of my sister Heidi, "I'm an arthritic potential." Ask her. Anyway. I finally got the nerve up to attempt some photo uploads, so here you go. Enjoy. All photo's are horrendously out of order.

Holland only liked the Parade when she could be a part of it.
This is at the parade. I liked it more than Holland.
Anyone sick of New York yet? I'm not, I could go back every single day...real or imagined.

We went to the Provo Parade. It was my first parade of remembrance. I definitely loved it more than the kiddo. But she did think she was part of it, and would run out in the street and do twirls for the admiring onlookers.

Mother's Day weekend we went down to St. George with Brett, Stacey, Jordan and Kira...to go boating at Sand Hallow. It was super fun.

Holland got in to my make-up and did this to her face...and my bathroom.

We have gone to the park a few million times.

Heidi and I really enjoyed our bottled drinks in NY.
We have gone to the pool a few million more times.
Holland went fishing for the first time.

Not too sure about that sick worm.

Holland loves this little car. After the 4th of July parade, we went to the pool..then up to my mom's for a BBQ then we went to watch fireworks with Steve's parents and Mike and Kali. Holland really loved the fireworks.

We had a cook out with John, Tess, Riley, Jordan, Kira and Kruz. Everyone looks really weird in this photo. Bc of the smoke of course.

Owlz get Skunked

Here's Holland and I at the Owlz game. I never realized how much I enjoy going to baseball games. It definitely had something to do with sitting on the grass as the day cooled down, eating a braughtworth (brother in law stood in the wrong line...but I'm not complaining because he was a gem to buy my dinner for me)...and Holland sitting on a steep slope in a singlet, because of the hill she had a perma wedgie and it reminded me why wedgies are such a good prank. They are hilarious.

By the time we left Holland was delirious because we spent all day at the pool, missed a nap or two, and it was WAY past her bedtime. She was being so funny. Not complaining, but super hyper. Oh and she was running to the car with her wedgie. Is it mean that I didn't help her out? I wish I had my camera because it would brighten your day too.

This photo is from Heidi's camera phone.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today's my Dad's Birthday! I spent some time with him, reminiscing. I have a few memories that I like to remember often. Like sitting on his lap and watching the Laker's. Or how I would go ride horses with him every Wednesday. One time on vacation he took me to a park and we played basketball...I can remember what I was wearing and how my hair was styled...yellow shorts, my hair in a high ponytail with a single ringlet. I can remember how he always smelled of black licorise or fireballs. (He loved Black Jack gum and Good N' Plenties) I remember waiting for him to get home and him taking us to a bookstore in our pajamas to pick out a book. I'm pretty sure this happened a lot because I remember reading the entire series of Sweet Valley Kids, Sweet Valley Teen's, Sweet Valley High, R.L. Stein, Goosebumps, etc.
I remember his exciting outfits with zero regard for pattern and color. Maybe that's why I tend to look like a circus tent when I get ready... Sometimes I think about the time he showed up to my soccer game on horseback...wearing his entire English Riding suit...tight pants and tall boots that look like wellies...and how the horse knocked him unconscious and it ran all over the field. Yeah that was great.
I remember how hard he worked and how smart he was. If I wanted an answer to something, he would come up with something brilliant. He always said that "a job worth doing, is worth doing right the first time." I learned this after having to pass off my weekend chore of collecting a bag of weeds before going out to play.
He called me Heathy. And he understood the frustrations of a two-year-old.
I loved him and hope he knew it.

We Just Love the Farm

Holland and I went to Farm Country today with, Tara, Will, Kylie, Krew and Quincey. It was a bit overcast so we beat the crowds, best time to visit the farm. We were the only people on the Hay Ride, which was fun...and we got to see the peacock's fan their feathers. What more can you ask for from a trip to the farm?

Re-Visiting New York

I loved this photo of the boys. I especially love Ethan's backpack charm.
This is our last meal in NY, in Little Italy.
What would a girls trip to NY be without a fashion show?

Heidi was totally involved in this photoshoot. She was working the camera and making sure we were striking appropriate poses.

Museums are always good for a laugh.
Well, when you have Holli around, and she insists that you snap a photo of her imitating this sacred Mayan statue.
We went on a romantic carriage ride through Central Park. The best way to see Central Park in the middle of a downpour. Thank goodness for awnings with heart shaped windows.

Times Square.
Mamma Mia.

I had a good time revisiting New York, while I was talking to Holli on the phone...and she was emailing me these photos. These girls trips must become mandatory.

Self-Perception

She calls herself hoLLi, with special emphasis on the L's (no this will not become her nickname...not because I don't dearly love my sister Holli, but for precisely that reason...I have a sister named Holli, a daughter named Holland)
She refers to her belly-button as her "Bubby"
She thinks anyone around her same size is a "Bebe"
She is Daddy's little girl and number one fan, she will stand by the door while he uses the bathroom and knock until he comes out.
When I say, "I love you" she responds, "I love you too" but when I ask, "you do?" she says. "No"
She requests her "B" before going to bed. Which means both her "B"inkie and her "B"lanket. They are both equal in her mind and are both called the same thing.
If she feels like she needs a kiss, she will just pucker those sweet little lips and tilt her head in your direction, eyes wide and neck stretching.
If she wants to snuggle, she will follow you around with her blanket.
If she's hungry, she will say...hungry, eat, hotdog.
If anything is luke warm, she repeats, "hot, hot, hot, hot" and blows a few times in it's general direction.
If she wants to go, she'll grab the keys and say, "go,go"
If asked if she wants to go "nie night" she'll respond with a sweet little, "no" like no, but really, thanks for asking.
If she is tired she starts twirling the back of her hair.
If she's really tired, she'll sing herself a lullaby, "go nie nie. go nie nie"
Oh I love her dearly.

Bean, Burro and my little Rice Patty

So, Karla (Bean) came into town to visit her favorite little Burro (moi), what she didn't know was that Miss Holland is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to her Spanish Rice. So, she invited us for a little bite to eat at Gordo's Taco Shack with Lauren, Stacy, Shawn and Avery. We were laughing so hard as Holland would shove handfuls of rice in her mouth, and maybe get a couple grains in while the rest fell to the floor or on the table. As you can see by Holland's face, she was so confused with why we were laughing. Get a few college friends together and everything is funny. The photo's don't do it justice, but Holland made a complete mess (I always get embarrassed and end up cleaning it myself...but I couldn't do much to the floor). I was scrubbing tomato stained rice spots out of her clothes for days after.

Red Mango

This is a photo from my first time trying Red Mango. Oh, I've been back a few times. I love a little kiwi delight. I can't remember when this was, a while ago, maybe a few months ago...but it is from the same night that Holland started to walk and only walk. These two girlies are from my ward and have become a couple of my greatest friends, Emily, and Danee. Thanks for the introduction, Red Mango and I will have a life long friendship I am sure.

New York New York

It was a blast. Everything a Big Apple could be. So glad to be home safe and sound, and to find everyone at home safe and sound. I have become a knuckle biting flier ever since I became a wife and it only intensified once I became a mom...so when the wheels hit the runway for the last time I was more than relieved.
I had so much fun with my mom and sisters in New York. I will definitely have to come back and update...but since my camera was deemed the worst on the trip, I didn't take many photos. So I'm waiting on the other, more post worthy, photo's to filter down to me. Really, everytime I asked someone to take a picture they would look at the screen after with a scrunched nose and say, "that one turned out blurry...let me take another." Then they would say it again, and again until they gave up and moved on to the Canon's.
But the trip included, 3 Broadway plays...Mama Mia, Guys and Dolls and Wicked, lots of walking, loads of shopping, tons of sight seeing, not much eating...but when we did eat it was belly rubbing good (Grimaldi's Coal Brick-Oven Pizzeria, Sushi Yasuda, Serendipity, Magnolia Bakery, Dean and Delucha...etc.) Every night was a LATE night (we were never in before 1 AM), and yes some Steve and Holland sickness was in the mix...but overall it was an amazing trip.
I think this trip to New York can be considered a milestone for me. I can relax knowing Holland is in good hands if I ever am away...which I don't think will be for a very long time.
I was glad that she wasn't mad at me when I got home. She gave me kisses and hugs but she was really attached to Steve. Towards the end of the day things were back to normal.
It's so good to be home. Did I mention Steve had freshly cut flowers from our garden, in a vase, waiting on our table next to a card...at 3:30 AM when I came home? It's good to be missed.

CALLING ALL NEW YARKERS!

OK, so this post is a bit delayed, but as my trip to the BIG APPLE is approaching I'm feeling desperate to have a LIST of MUST DO's...MUST HAVE's...MUST EAT's....MUST SEE's. I've been to New York a few times (only one that I really count) but definitely wouldn't say I've DONE IT ALL in NYC. PLEASE, anyone that has gone, or wants to go...that knows of what they want to do...please let me know.
Very many thanks.

Holland's First Hair Cut

Well, I finally did it. I cut the mullet. Well, I didn't cut it, but the nice girl at Cookie Cutters did. Part of me wonders why in the world I waited so long. I mean, let's be honest, a mullet doesn't flatter anyone. I am pretty much pleased with the results. I don't know when or how I'll transition to a long do, but at least now people will stop shoving Looney Toon's characters in Holland's direction.
